How to Share Your Story to Support Nourishing Roots

It has been a dream of Community Roots Midwife Collective to create a program that supports access to midwifery care. Thank you for joining us in creating this vision and helping us create more support by sharing your experience. We will use your stories alongside others who are supported by the Nourishing Roots program to show others how impactful midwifery care is. By doing this we hope to get more funding and support to serve more families and midwives. Thank you for anything you feel comfortable sharing.

If you would like some prompts to talk about your experience please see below:

What did you value most in the care you received?

How did you feel being cared for by a midwife?

If you have received care from someone else (or another model of care), how was midwifery different then that care?

What lasting impact will the care you received have on your life?

What was your favorite part of your birth?

What was something unexpected from your perinatal time?

We know that writing a birth story in the postpartum time isn’t accessible to all so please feel free to be creative:

Send us a voice memo- we don’t need a formal writing, a voice note of your experience would be perfect

Write something short- for example a poem or a letter to your baby

Create art about your experience- draw, pain, sculpt, dance, make music

We can call you to talk- some people are talkers rather then writers, we want to be able to access all stories- so if you would like a phone chat with one of CRMC staff, please email to schedule a time

Photographs- we would love to experience your story through images, please send any pictures that you feel comfortable sharing. These can still be anonymous if you wish, and could be pictures with no faces in them- for example your birth space, an alter in your home, even your garden! *We will not share your photos without your permission

Please let us know if the stories shared are anonymous.

If you have a story or photos that you feel comfortable sharing please email them to rachel@midwifecollective.org
