CRMC is committed to ongoing transparency, as a diverse collective addressing community feedback and recognizing their part in health equity locally and nationally. CRMC believes in the responsibility health care providers have in the advancement of society and are committed to the on going development of what it takes to create an inclusive environment, including their own ongoing education.

Our Vision

The midwives and practitioners of Community Roots Midwife Collective envision creating a self-sustaining healthcare organization which provides homebirth midwifery services and reproductive health care to anyone who desires it, regardless of their ability to pay. In collaboration with other care providers, the Collective fosters a supportive and respectful community, which effectively decreases current birth and health care disparities. CRMC holds the values of integrity, human rights, reproductive justice and physiologic birth paramount.

Focus Community: LGBTQIA2S+ people, BBIPOC, low-income, single parents, youth, people with disabilities, people who live in midwifery-care deserts and other under-resourced communities.

Our Core Values

Community Roots Midwife Collective

  • Provides culturally affirming care in response to our focus communities' needs.

  • Supports full spectrum care throughout childbearing continuum.

  • Upholds accountability, transparency and honesty in the regulation of midwifery and our role as registered midwives:

We acknowledge the responsibility we carry as Registered Midwives, and we recognize the harm that is caused by modern regulatory agencies and colonized reproductive health care. We advocate for just regulations of midwifery honoring individual sovereignty and midwives as autonomous health care providers.

  • Provides educational and training opportunities for students, including those representing underserved communities.

  • Advocates for reproductive self-determination.

  • Cares for the CRMC practitioners and the community from the inside out. Self-care, clear and consistent communication, and shared responsibility and decision making are all values that inform and guide the collective.

  • Supports the continuation of ancestral practices of midwifery.
